I’m going on retreat this weekend with the writing group I’m in. Yay! We will stay in a Boatel–yes, your read that right. A boatel is a room near the lake where you can easily get to your boat. We don’t have one, but we like to be right on the water. Very peaceful, and exactly what I need right now.
I’m constructing my new site, and will announce it soon. I’m trying to figure out MailChimp for contests, etc. and am not having an easy time with it. Not at all. Maybe on retreat I can figure it out with the help of my buddies.
Anyway, lots going on for me as we wrap up Kate and Spencer’s story. I hope you are enjoying it and will like the ending. I’ve had fun writing it. I think I will actually miss my characters, and they aren’t even real! I guess that’s normal for writers. 🙂
Lately, I’ve gotten several notices that people are following this blog. Thank you very much! I’m just confused how you all found me as I’m not a techy and don’t know exactly how all this works. I’m not even sure how this blog is being found as I’m not posting to it regularly. (Yet.)
As soon as I get some details about my character’s backgrounds and how they do their jobs (I’m going to try and be as accurate as possible), then I can start the story. I hope to start posting it by the end of May.
I’m excited to say that I finished another project yesterday and it is with my editor. So, now I will get back to Heir Force soon. I have a lot to juggle with, including my four children and homeschooling, and normal family and home operations. Please forgive me for the delay.
Here are a couple of the characters though that you will be reading about in Heir Force.
Kate Langston: fiercely independent, active duty Air Force, tomboyish, sympathetic, has no desire to be a mother, about 5′ 10″, 28 years old
John Kern: Kate’s love interest, also active duty Air Force, confident but not cocky, has a secret, 27 years old and same height as Kate
Spencer Coleman: friend of both Kate and John, also active duty Air Force, named after the actor Spencer Tracy, quiet and gentle, just over six feet tall, a southern gentleman with southern values, from Tennessee
Other characters are involved in the story as well and I hope you enjoy them.
I am getting ready to start posting this story and know you’ve all (all 3 or 4 :)) of you have been on the edge of your seats!
Over a decade ago, when our oldest daughter was born while we were stationed at Offtutt AFB, NE, the base paper ran a column called Heir Force, which announced the new births at the base hospital. Several years later, I had a dream about an active duty woman who becomes a legal guardian to a little girl, thus Heir Force was ‘born’. I hope you enjoy the story!
I will post the characters involved in this story soon. I have to do a little tweaking and figure out some of their backgrounds and then I’ll post again.
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to your feedback as Heir Force progresses.
